Meet Madison …
Hi, I’m Madison — the heart and hands behind McClure Cloth + Craft.
I’ve been sewing since I was about seven years old (and I’m 22 now!), starting with tiny beginner projects and slowly working my way into more intricate creations. While I still adore small, practical pieces you can use every day, my true sewing love lies in historical wardrobe projects — especially the kind that take months (sometimes even a year!) to complete. One of my favorite creations is a full ball gown designed for an original character to wear to Renaissance festivals. There’s something magical about bringing fabric and imagination together in that way.
I grew up as a proud Air Force “brat,” and being a military kid shaped who I am — resilient, adaptable, and deeply proud of where I come from.
My heritage means everything to me. My family roots trace back to the Highlands of Scotland and the Isle of Skye, and I’m a proud member of Clan McClure. My love for my ancestry and Scottish culture is the heart behind my business theme, name, and logo. The Scottish thistle — fierce, prickly, and beautiful — is my favorite flower (I even have it tattooed multiple times!). It represents strength and resilience, qualities I try to weave into every piece I create.
And fun fact: the unicorn is the national animal of Scotland — how could you not love that?
Beyond sewing, I also hand embroider and crochet. Truly, I’ll learn any craft just for the joy of learning it — because half the magic is in the process itself.
My ultimate sewing dream? To create my own wedding gown one day — or at least part of it — and to make most of my future children’s clothing by hand. There’s something incredibly special about garments made with intention and love.
Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know me and for supporting handmade. I hope you treasure your McClure Cloth + Craft pieces as much as I treasure creating them.
